ANGARRACK
COFFEE MORNING:
Angarrack's next fortnightly coffee morning takes place this Friday, March 11,
between 10am and noon at Angarrack Community Centre. All welcome.
HAYLE FILM CLUB:
The Martian. Saturday March 12 at 7.30pm.
Left for dead on Mars with any rescue mission four years away, Mark Watney has to survive on the rations and equipment left for a much shorter mission. Down on earth, NASA notices he's moving around up there, and puts the wheels in motion to bring him home, with the whole world watching, and failure just ‘not an option'. Mark and NASA have very different approaches: on Earth they are focused, anxious, but on Mars Watney is keeping it together with fix-it-guy resourcefulness and unstoppable humour in the face of everything - even being stranded with a collection of disco music. Matt Damon on top form supported by a cast including Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jessica Chastain, in a film to make you love the future. 144 mins, 12A.
As ever, at the Passmore Edwards Institute, house lights down at 7.30pm and home-baked refreshments after. Tickets at £5/£4 for members, reserve on 01736 752319, or book online at www.haylefilmclub.org.uk
HAYLE TWINNING ASSOCIATION:
The association is holding its next meeting on Monday March 14. This meeting will be held at Asda's in Hayle starting at 7.15pm. Please attend and bring any completed hosting forms along. Hosting forms will also be available at the meeting. Remember Hayle's Pordician friends are visiting Hayle in May, arriving late on Wednesday May 4 and departing again on Saturday May 7 at 6.30pm. The association will also be taking names and numbers for the return visit to Pordic in August, departing on Saturday August 27 and returning on Wednesday August 31. Any ideas for fund raising will be gratefully received as fund raising is a very important part of the association.
All welcome at the meeting.
HAYLE ROTARY CLUB:
The members of the club were treated to an in depth progress view of the charity COVE Macmillan Cancer Support Centre Appeal which the club has
supported with a donation from their charity account. Rotarian Geoff Wolstencroft of the Helston Club and his daughter Dr Catherine Osborne gave
a very thorough and thought provoking summary of the aims regarding the site which is located adjacent to the Sunrise Centre at RCH Treliske
Hospital Truro. With over 21,000 people in Cornwall living with Cancer and previously without a centre for the families and support workers a centre to give palliative care in comfortable surroundings has been long overdue. With the site and staffing now in place fund raising for one million pounds is the
target to complete the project for all Cornish sufferers and Hayle rotarians were delighted to be able to help. Grateful thanks to those who have
supported the club with its activities this year. A letter has also been received from Cumbria Flood Relief committee thanking the people of Hayle for
their help and donations raised during last winter by Hayle Rotarians and their Synergy partners outside Flowertime Florists on Penpol Terrace.
ST ELWYN'S CHURCH:
On Sunday March 13, Passion Sunday, the Parish Eucharist will be celebrated by the Reverend. Patricia Murley at 9.30am. On Wednesday March 16, Said Eucharist will be celebrated by Father Malcolm Uren at 10am.
Lent lunches 11.30am to 1pm at Phillack Church Hall. Soup, bread, tea or coffee. The cost is £2. which will go to Churches Together for distribution to charities.
ST.JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, HAYLE:
St Joseph's Church in Hayle is part of the Roman Catholic Parish of the Holy Family. Mass was celebrated on Saturday March 5 at 6.30pm with readings from Joshua - Corinthians and gospel by Luke.
There will be Mass on Friday at 10am followed by Stations of the Cross.
Hayle hall update: there is a shortfall of approximately £10k. It is hoped to be able to reduce the cost of the building and for several gift aided donations to be made.
